Climate Change Stakeholders Engagement Workshop

The event was taken to the seat of Government to attract the targeted audience. It was held at the De Javu Hotels, Alagbaka Government Reserved Area (GRA), behind the State House of Assembly and of proximity to all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the State Government and Federal Government Secretariat.  

The programme was designed for Honourable Members of the State Parliament who are Chairmen House Committees for Environment, Water Resources, Education and Health. In addition, Honourable Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries of various State Ministries such as Environment, Education, Agriculture, Natural Resources, Health, Water Resources, Economic Planning and Budget, Physical Planning and Urban Development. Also invited were Directors and General Managers of some Departments and Agencies of the State Government such as; Ondo State Environmental Protection (ODSEPA); Ondo State Water Corporation (ODSWC), Ondo State Waste Management Authority (ODWMA) and National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and undergraduate Environmental Conservation Clubs were also not left out at this crucial meeting of stakeholders’ engagements workshop.  

For all the ministries, departments and agencies and NGOs, at least two (2) desk officers were brought together for series of talks and group round table discussion after all presentations at the workshop.  

Apart from the dignitaries mentioned above who were well represented, in attendance at this meeting were Senior Special Advisers to the Governor and principal and top officers from the Federal University of Technology, Akure were the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics (DVCA), Deputy Vice Chancellor, Development (DVCD), Dean of Student Affairs, Dean of School of Postgraduate School (SPGS), Director of Academic Planning, Director, International Strategy office, Head of Department of Meteorology and Climate Science, Director Protocols and Information unit, DRP-WACS management amongst others.
